A soft chilly wind
Breaking in from the north
A soft winter chill moves in
Gently December calls for its mate
Snow from the skies above
The darkened clouds
Come floating in
Bringing with it night
All the kids are sleeping
All the parents keeping watch
Around the strike of midnight
The skies begin to whiten
Not a soul outside
To see the snow drifting
Drifting to its new home on the ground
When the morning light does break
Parents wake their sleepy kids
A couple hours late
Schools are closed
There is too much snow
The kids rub their sleepy eyes
And get dressed and ready to play
Throwing snow balls and laughing all the way
The kids prepare for fun galore
While a photographer waits nearby
The sun shines bright
Its high noon here
The blanket of snow glimmers
As the kids build their snow men
And create angels in the snow
Five feet is nothing new
The kids love it every year
Being able to be free
With Mom and Dad sitting on the porch
Sipping their coffee
The photographer stands still
At the bottom of a hill
At the entrance of the park
He looks around for the perfect picture
So he can capture it in time
Snow across the fields of time
Keeping memories fresh
Reminding all who care to listen
That its time to let go of the old
For every year there comes a time
A time when life ends
A time when life begins
A time when life carries on
A time when kids get to be kids
And parents get to be kids
A time when all cares go away
When joy and laughter can ring
A time when all you see is smiles
And life is jolly
A time when life is happy
A time when life seems to stop
And bask in happiness
A time when snow covers the old
So a new look can be found
A world hidden under a blanket of snow
A blanket of snow
That says to young and old
To cherish the days they have
For just as the snow blankets the land
Death can blanket the soul
Remember the moments that you have
And you shall never grow old
For whatever life may bring your way
Remember the good times
Don't let them fade away
