What makes this world so different? Different people, different ideas, different lifestyles, different religions. Wouldn't this world be a better place if people were more open minded to how others viewed the world? Do you ever stop to look at a glorious ruby red rose, glistening with drizzled dew, in the shimmering light of the sun and wonder, does anyone else see this like I do?I am sure you could get the person next to you to tell you what their impression of that rose would be, but would it be exactly how you see it? I doubt it. They can look at it in a totally abstract form, or see a elegant dance of death, or they just may hate it all together.
What you see as ugly and offensive can be the window to someone else's heart. When a dear friend comes to you to talk, do you sit there and listen to them, or do you really hear them. Detaching yourself from your own personal issues, to actually take the time to help someone else out?
Can you look at a perfect person and see their soul? No one in this world is perfect. The models that are said to be societies perfection, are usually nothing more than puppets with strings. Parading around like life sized barbie dolls for all the world to see. Did you ever stop thinking for one second, how great it would be to be like them, and think, I wonder how they really feel? The way I see it, there are pretty people all over television and the movies. Gorgeous singers, and talented artists of all things, but I wonder, what if they look at the everyday hard working joe and say to themselves, I wish I could be them.
Do you have to be a huge star in order to help the homeless? To help deprived children in other countries, or the ones here at home? Why is does it seem that the only people that get any kind of recognition are those with money? There are people everywhere in the world, that I will be the first to say, thank you for your kindness. Thank you for taking that one second out of your busy day to simply say good morning to someone, letting them know that in this world of uncertainty, that someone does care about them. Have you ever made someone desert and take it to them just because you could? Not for anything in return, but just for the sheer pleasure of seeing their face light up with gratitude? It is amazing what a little bit of kindness can do for someone. It can make a once ice cold heart a little warmer.
The news is now so over ran with negativity, I am amazed at the fact that people still watch it. Have we become such a negative society, that we thrive on death and the hell of others just to make ourselves feel better? Oh yeah, lets watch this scandal here, and that death there. What? There is no gang shooting today that I can get mad over? Is a asteroid gonna slam the earth today? You mean the air I breathe will give me cancer? I thought you said it was the water last week!
Sad isn't it? They have to make special 5 minuet reports of good things, just to say, yes! there is good in the world still. Look stupid, go outside and play with your kids, enjoy the air and listen to the laughter, does this not show you the goodness in the world. The future is staring right at you in the eyes of children. If you can not change the situation or if it does no involve you, why fret?
A few nights ago I watched a movie with my kids that involved white beating a little black girl. The movie was A Time To Kill. It was hard telling my children that long ago that people were brought up to hate other races. To actually believe because of the color of their skin or the religion they believe, made them less human. It was so incredible hard to look into my children's eyes and explain this all to them. Then my eldest son looked at me and said, 'Mommy, they are just like us just different colored skin, and I think they all are great.' I have never been prouder of my son than i was at that moment. then they all went on to tell me about one of their Latino friend, another friends speak Islamic. It was so wonderful to see this mesh of differences in my children's lives.
