The Real Purpose of the War

From the dawn of civilization man has always had a tendency to attack one another for what the other had. From Sumerian feuds to the war in Iraq, there has only been one purpose for a war effort. It was designed not for the protection of say America against Iraq or Iraq against America. It was not designed for the fight against Christianity and Islam or Islam and Christianity. The war is never and has never really been fought for the glory of one king or emperor. The war is not really waged by a nation, religion, or ruler, it is and has always been waged by the ruling class against its own subjects. It was designed not to liberate or even to destroy one land, but rather to rape it of its resources and only see them get fixed in the greedy hands of the wealthiest few. In essence war is always designed to keep the mainstream of society content with living on the brink of starvation. It was not waged for the defense of a country, it is waged to keep the very system of hierarchy intact. The poor are sent off to murder others who are poor while the rich take the spoils of war for themselves, in Iraq a soldier receives 2,000 dollars per month while a Halliburton contractor receives 174,000 dollars per year. All of this is taken from our taxpayer dollars.
From the time starting with the Sumerians the citizens would rally behind their Gods to attack other cities along either the Euphrates or Tigris rivers. Obviously the use of Gods had worked and the easily mustered lines and columns of the poorest peasants to attack another land. When they would invade they would take the farmland and the use of the river for irrigation for their own good as nobles would take more land for themselves from the conquered regions. The peasants were too poor to resist the money made being a soldier, but too ignorant and often illiterate to know the real reason. Always living in a culture that glorified soldiers and fighting, the murder of thousands did not seem like a big deal. The four elements of a hierarchical society have always been poverty, war, ignorance, and fear. Poverty does not resemble a truly failing economy but how the wealth is concentrated, this is the result of hierarchy, but also the cause as well. Ignorance is needed because if people believe what they’re told then nobody questions their leader. War is needed to keep the people focused on a power far away rather than what is in their own borders. Fear on the otherhand is the number one reason for this. While war is what keeps a hierarchical society intact, fear is more needed for war than ignorance. When a public is afraid, they turn to their leader to protect them, oftenly this fear is exploited to all extremes and ridden like a rollercoaster. In the time of the Aztecs, high priests would summon their followers to go to war for sacrifice to the Gods. That was the excuse but the idea of the war in their times was for these high priests and nobles to grow only wealthier. The same thing came into play with the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, the conquistadors were driven by religious zealotry and nationalism, but the purpose for the conquest was to enslave the people and collect the gold. In American wars other than the revolution and World War II we have fought on the basis of a false form of nationalism and the real reason behind it lies in the fact that weapons companies and other corporations make gigantic profits off of a war. This current war is the same of the past and no different past has existed. The war is not waged by George W. Bush over Saddam Hussein, it is waged by the ruling class against its own subjects. And the object of this war is not victory over Baghdad or Fallujah, it was designed to keep that very system of hierarchy intact. It really is amazing the gift that our armed men and women give to us. They fight so that we can be free, they die so that we don't have to, and all they ask from us is that we never send them into harms way unless we have no other option at our disposal. Because the best way to respect veterans is not in the form of parades and festivities and the glorification of war, the best way to respect those who served in a war is to never send anybody to fight unless it is absolutely neccessary. For all those who died fighting in these wars and over 1,000 soldiers who died in this Iraq war, I hope you forgive us. Forgive us for what we have done, for allowing history once again to repeat itself by voting George W. Bush. Will you ever trust us again?
