"Are you sure you want me to go?" He asked.
Of course not.
"Yes," I said.
"I will come back for you-"I shook my head.
"I will be here."...staring into me.
’Stop.’I thought. "No, just go."
"Why what are you going to do?"
A smirk creeped across my face..."Sleep, I have to goooo!" I moaned.
He smiled. "You won’t sleep." I looked down. "Just- come back," He said.
"I can’t."
"Just try," He said, "Just- try." But all I could do was stare at the ground. "Do you know why I came back?"
I knew what he was going to say, but there was a chance- that I was wrong.
"Why?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"To see you." I was right- but I smiled anyway.
"You’re beautiful," He said. I shook my head. "No?"
"No." I answered, but not to the same question- that he was asking.
"Yes," He said. And at that moment- I wanted to say- ’I love you,’ but there- was no Possible way- that I couldn’t have been lying. And I wished- that there was some sort of language- that I could speak in, that he could not understand, so I could just- scream it out,
But I didnt. So it stayed inside my throat- and made it’s home on his lips as he said, "I will remember you always."
"Yes," I then said. And everything I stood for- fell.
The next day I looked for stray paint on the pavement where he had done his artwork for a living, but nothing- no trace of anything to show that he had ever even existed. When I stared at the ground, and even now- I could hear him saying, "Come back..."
But-
I can’t
Ever-
Leave.
