As she gazed into her mirror
Slowly looking at herself
She wondered what else could go wrong
She put her foundation on nice and thick
Tons of black eyeliner and mascara
Trying to hide her black eye
She gets out her powder and concealer
Pulls her hair up and ties it
And tries to cover the marks on her neck
She slowly starts to dress
In front of her mirror
Slowly because she hurts so badly
Slowly her bra gets latched
Her underwear get pulled up
God, she thinks, how it hurts
She goes to her closet and searches for a shirt
And some nice long pants and matching shoes
She has to hide her tattered body
Her long sleeve shirt
Black as black can be
Slowly pulled over her head and fitted perfectly
She grabs her loose fitting black pants
And as she slides them up her legs she winces
The pain is too much for her to bear
Her socks and shoes come on next
As the tears fill her eyes
She never imagined it would come to this, all his lies
He hit her and beat her,
Tried to kill her many a time
But still she stays with him
And everyone that knows it
Always asks her why
She simply answers 'Because I love him'
That was 1 month ago on this very day
Little did she know his love would end that way
For now here she lies
In a casket of blue, her favorite color
And as she's lowered in the ground
I whisper, I love you, I wish I could have saved you
The tears stream down my face
As the dirt is pushed on top
And I turn to go
At least she's free now, I think,
From the pain he caused, his wrath
At least she is at peace now and will feel loved
