I’m a Soldier, the Unsung Song
I'm a soldier, Dressed and trained to kill. I storm the beach and seize the hill I’m a soldier, I suffer endlessly for someone else’s dreams, I lose my life for false patriotic themes I’m a soldier, I’m taught to fly a plane and use a knife, They tell me not to feel sad when I take somebody’s life. I’m a soldier, I was sent into war by the Bush administration, My suffrage is ignored on Clear Channel stations. I’m a soldier, I wake up from nightmares every night, After such a short sleep I might die in a fight. I’m a soldier, For writing against this it’s considered obscene, Haunted by the atrocities I do and the horrors I’ve seen. I’m a soldier, I was following orders for a man claiming to honor me, Who gave us thanksgiving dinner with a plastic turkey. I’m a soldier, From the hell I see, my mind is deeply hurt, I’m adored in my uniform, ignored lying in the dirt. I’m a soldier, Whose dirty deeds are still undone, I’m a soldier, And this is my unsung song.

Out or curiosity, do you personally know many soldiers, airmen, sailiors or marines?
I think you should really research your said topic before you write as if you were one of them. Because even I, a wife of a Marine who is currently over there, cannot understand their mentality. But from what I understand of my husband and his brother's in arms, you're not capturing it in this poem.
Although this is well written and I'm sure intended to honour them, it makes them appear cowardly and over looked by those back home. When they are truly the bravest of the brave and are considered heroes by their families and friends. Who are the people they are fighting for so nothing else really matters to them.

When they are truly the bravest of the brave and are considered heroes by their families and friends. Who are the people they are fighting for so nothing else really matters to them. First of all I do know people in the armed services, my stepbrother Chris Stewart who got out in March 2004 from serving in Iraq and is now on the last days of his military career. He and his friends have told me their experiences and suffering and wanting to be out of a combat zone does not make them a coward at all. I sincerely respect your opinions and I'm flattered you think my poem is well written, but the thing is I wrote this, my poem "Soldiers Stories Not Fit for Fox News", and I wrote "Please Forgive Us" mostly out from my stepbrother and his friends I have spoken to in Iraq via email and a few phone calls from him, but the others through email. I have researched this topic far better than you think and to the furthest extent of my resources so please, if you decide to disagree with me I"m okay with it, but I only ask that you not assume I don't know soldiers and that I don't research what I'm talking about.

Obviously we have recieved two completely different accounts of the situation in Iraq.
It would be interesting for you to get the other point of view, which I have touched on, and see how that comes out of the tip of your pen as well.
Again, good writing. I just agree to disagree.

That's perfectly fine with me, I kind of overreacted a bit, it's something that gets me at times when people tell me "You don't know any soldiers" I mean you only asked but I misinterpreted that, but I thank you for even bothering to read my works, if you have a screenname we could have a debate about that on our own time.

Heh, would love to debate. Perhaps I'll get a screen name. Although, I am liberal so there wouldn't be too much to debate about. Except of course when it comes to the Military because my point of view is somewhat different than most liberals considering I'm a dependent of the USMC.
