Don't Forget Me
You say that you hold me deep in your heart,
While you vote for the man who sent me to die,
And he uses me to construct chaotic art,
As blood gushes from my friends chest for a lie.
What respect does he have for those who have served?
If he's cutting our benefits and slashing our pay,
He says he supports us. Such fucking nerve,
As my death could happen any given second on any given day.
People will say I'm cowardly if I can't handle this pain,
They'll say it's my mistake if I ended up hating this,
But I do not see the point in killing others who are poor for Halliburton's gain,
And the fact my leader betrayed me is just what you missed.
I want to feel proud to wear this uniform,
I don't see how I can with this policy we have,
A president should have a standard with which he must conform.
Not false intelligence and pundits with the gift of gab.
This isn't respect that you are giving me,
By leaving me to reconquer Fallujah,
And find death as far as the eye can see.
