Breaking the Chains




Untying the chains that keep me from who my fancies are,
That sank deep inside leaving me scarred.
The chains forged by religion and maintained by a priest,
And punish those who break free with scorn, but that's only the least.
Some end up like Matthew Shepard beaten in the freezing cold,
Because two men thought that all they stood for would quickly unfold.
Although it has not I wish that it would,
Because it's about time for them to know that what they believe isn't good.
So I could face punishment for breaking these chains,
The minimum is scorn, the maximum is to be killed or maimed.
But I'm letting you all know I'm breaking these chains.
To let you know I like both men and women and will choose for myself,
Regardless if my funeral is protested by a preacher named Fred Phelps.
I'm breaking these chains and I'm finally free,
And regardless of what this "President" said, I'll marry who I please.
Breaking these chains, I've committed no crime,
By having longings for both men and women at the very same time.
You can scorn me all you want, you can bring me some pain,
Because I'm not scared anymore so I'm breaking these chains.
