Amazingly five days later we have 5 new poems of conscience to place up here due to having more members start to show up here at the forum. I thank all who have participated and hope everybody will convince their friends to visit here. Just a usual part of the House of Liberal Poets showing off dissenting voices for the good of humanity and our democracy. Below are the poems written that have made this list:
Poem: Plight of Vows

The Plight of Vows
No insurance for my love
Though I work and pay for mine
Higher powers from above
Don't think our love is "good" or "fine"
We cannot buy a home that's "ours"
People will not let this be
Leaves my feelings sad and sour
Two women, not two hearts, is all people see
So congress says it's wrong to do
To let us say our wedding vows
To make our families whole and true
We could'nt back then, nor now
So many of us flock to states that say yes
But then that is where we must stay
So Hawaii and Maine are crowded I guess
For us it's the only choice, our only way
When will people see that we love the same way
Stop saying it's wrong, against God, or society
We all bleed the same--love the same--even gays
With our hearts, not our politics, as it should be
Poem # 2: I Fight Like A Girl
Author: Sarah A. Wilson

I fight like a girl who refuses to be a victim.
I fight like a girl who is tired of being
IGNORED and HUMORED and BEATEN and RAPED.
I fight like a girl who's sick
of not being taken seriously.
I fight like a girl who's been pushed too far.
I fight like a girl who OFFERS and
DEMANDS RESPECT.
I fight like a girl who has a lifetime of
ANGER and STRENGTH and PRIDE
pent up in her girly body.
I fight like a girl who doesn't believe in
FEAR and SUBMISSION.
I fight like a girl who knows that
THIS BODY and THIS MIND are mine.
I fight like a girl who knows that
YOU ONLY HAVE AS MUCH POWER
AS I GRANT YOU.
I fight like a girl who will never allow you
to take more than I offer.
I fight like a girl who FIGHTS BACK.
So next time you think you can distract
yourself
from your insecurities by victimizing a girl,
THINK AGAIN.
She may be ME and
I FIGHT LIKE A GIRL.

Poem #3: The Forgotten Voice of the Iraqi People

The Forgotten Voice of the Iraqi People
They’re shooting us here, they’re bombing us there.
They’re killing our children, but no one seems to care.
I’m an Iraqi, the voice you refuse to hear.
I’m an Iraqi, forced to starvation and fear.
They show us killing soldiers and committing these crimes,
Yet the number of us dead is higher by 23 times.
5 million of us can’t find clean water,
We’re not human beings to you, we’re simple cannon fodder
I’m an Iraqi, the people you can’t truly face
Mr. Bush never helped us, that fucking disgrace
One man commits violence, the Iraqi people get the blame,
But wouldn’t you do the same if your house burst to flames?
Depleted uranium is left all around,
It’s in the air and the water, as well as the ground.
With a half-life of 4.5 billion years,
It brings deformities, cancer, and tears.
Holding my own sister, filled up with lead,
Is this the freedom you bring us? The freedom to be dead!
You say you’re liberating us from one evil man.
You say that he had so many evil plans,
You said he had WMDs and links to bin Laden
Our plea for mercy is now long forgotten.
You didn’t even bother to back your fabrications,
You didn’t even bother for consent from the United Nations
Clusterbombs dropped in tiny neighborhoods
More of your soldiers are up to no good.
Taking our families without just cause,
Bombing our towns just because.
I’m an Iraqi, the one you told to hush,
While you turn our towns into ashes and our brains into mush.
I’m an Iraqi, and this is what I have to say,
All I want now is for you to go away

Poem # 4: You Are
Author: Same as Above

You Are
You are, you are,
Prophets that deceive the masses,
Taught to hate in Sunday school classes.
Free thought is now bleeding,
From the wounds made by your moral beatings.
You are, you are
Using the bible to deceive us,
Instead of trying to emulate Jesus,
Dissent in your following is very rare,
Your lies make you millionaires.
You are, you are,
Priests who bring up holy wars and hell,
Like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell,
Love thy neighbor is crying for help,
From being beaten down by Fred Phelps.
You are, you are,
Nothing more than false preachers!
You are, you are,
Wealthy off of your believers!
Just like the high priests of the old
You use peoples faith to get your gold,
This is mankind’s cycle that seems to never end,
From Jim Baker down to the Sumerians.
You are, you are,
Making a gigantic mountain,
Out of your ignorance,
Those who drink from your moral fountain,
Walk into an endless trance.
You are, you are,
Nothing more than cons and thugs,
You spew out your hatred, on the 700 Club
Christ’s real teachings are your trash,
God to you is nothing, except a stack of cash.
You are, you are,
Judas of the modern day!
You are, you are,
Fake and dead in all you say!
I can’t help but shed a tear,
From all the lies I hear,
You get congregants to give their offers,
People starve as they fill your coffers.

Poem #5: Expanse
Author: Mellisa K. Wellborn

The scorpion’s canopy
Swings lower than the vines
A kaleidoscope of red
Immersed in rosy signs
Enveloped in crime
Such a cloudy mess
In the air beyond the room
Revelations in ribbon
Sing sweetly to the moon
And I’ll be leaving soon
The palest grains of sand
Lit up like lightning bolts
Carried by the sky
The only thing I hold
As I buckle and I fold
Swept away by grace
In a leap of metal hands
The moon is fading fast
I’ll soak up one last glance
And step away entranced
